A visit to Blackwell House and State of the Knitting

Well February came and went, didn’t it?  I won’t bother with the usual excuses and laments about my blog absence — it seems intermittent blogging is my norm, for the moment.  But to those of you who’ve stuck around — thanks!

A fresh off the machine #CollageGatherTop by @matchymatchysewingclub , just in time for our holiday ⛱
First morning of holiday: coffee, knitting, sun through the window ✨there are, I suppose, some benefits to our toddler starting the day before 6am
I sat down at my sewing machine for the first time in weeks this afternoon and tackled the collar stand on this #cameronbuttonup , a (now belated) anniversary present for @nickvonderby . I suppose the proof will be in the wearing (will it fit ?!) but I’m so pleased with how it turned out … so many layers and raw edges, everything looking untidy and now suddenly it looks like a shirt! Just hemming the sleeves and body, then (gulp) buttonholes to go (related question: where did the buttons I ordered for this go 🧐)
#makesocksmendsocks2022 May: While the #GinnelSocks are being test knit, I’ve been working on some other footie sock samples. Some of the same cool features as the Ginnel Socks .. nice low fit and a gently raised cuff to prevent slips, but without any colorwork or stripes to contend with … and with a few different details (like this option i-cord cuff). Perfect for self striping yarn (I’ve used deeeeep stash Opal here) or partial skeins you’ve got lying around. I’ll release the Shorty Shorty Shorties pattern alongside the Ginnel Socks (probably as a little ebook, hopefully in early July) or you’ll be able to get it on its own if colorwork socks aren’t your thing.
#memademay day 31!
#memademay day 18: so nice to be breaking out the warmer weather makes, even if it’s back to soggy weather tonight ! #WillaTee by @this.bird.knits in lovely Bio Balance from @northern_yarn , #OgdenCami by @truebias in Liberty Lawn from @guthrieghani and @merchantandmills #MMBucketHat 🌞
