FO Friday: Incunabula Cardigan!

Hi friends, and happy Friday!

I’ve been sitting on this finished object post for ages, waiting to have the time to sit down and properly write about what is probably one of my favorite ever finished garments, my Incunabula Cardigan, knit in very special Shear Delight Castlemilk Moorit/BFL DK.

💕a most special gift 💕 A few weeks ago, this stunning and delicate scarf arrived on my doorstep from my lovely friend Anne @aantho55 I was literally speechless when I opened it — the lace, the color, the thought that went into it. I’ve worn it nearly every day since it arrived, and it’s wonderfully light and beautifully warm — perhaps even more so because I know the kindness that went into knitting it. Thank you again so much Anne — I love it so so much! Anne knit this in @jamiesonsofshetland Ultra which she got on a trip to Shetland. The pattern is Strawberry Vines Scarf by June Dickinson, published by Simply Shetland. #knittingfriendsarethebestfriends #knittersofravelry #knittersoftheworld #laceknitting #shetlandlace #handmadewardrobe
One round left to untink and then looking forward to finishing up this yoke! In other news, it’s 5 pm and still somewhat light outside !! Joining in the #sundayknittingsociety for the first time 😊 Pattern is Threipmuir by Ysolda Teague knit in @the_birlinn_yarn_company Hebridean 4ply. I’m knitting it as part of #fieldworkmal and the #ysoldasweaterkal #knittersoftheworld #knittersofravelry #myhandsmaking #knitknitknit #makersgonnamake
Carbeth twins! @madeonarainyday and I turned up for yesterday’s sock class at @northern_yarn wearing our nearly identical jumpers!! A photo was obviously necessary ... with Kate’s beautiful wall of @jamiesonsofshetland Spindrift as backdrop! #northernyarn #9middlestreet #handknittwins #loveyourlys #knittersoftheworld #knittersofravelry #katedaviesdesigns #bangoutacarbeth #knitknitknit #makersgonnamake #handmadewardrobe
My Kia Socks by @dawn.landix are finished and blocked and I couldn’t love them more 💕they’re knit in @ovisetcetera Herba, a no nylon sock yarn. I love the fabric and the way the texture of Dawn’s pattern, which recall equal signs, plays with the short bursts of color. Thank you Dawn for the beautiful pattern and the intention behind it. #knittersoftheworld #knittersofravelry #knittersofinstagram #kiasockskal #sockknittersofinstagram #operationsockdrawer #nonylonsocks
What a fabulous Wednesday! It’s always excellent to see Maylin @blithespirit4 but even better when yarn is involved (and lets be honest it almost always is!) Got to have a proper poke around Lancaster’s newest yarn shop @ethelandemshop — congrats Melanie @gollywhoa on opening your beautiful shop! A few balls of Kidsilk Haze had to come home with me — look at that blue!!!! Then a lovely visit to Kate @northern_yarn where I didn’t take pictures (because I’m there nearly every day 😂) a fab day spent seeing fab crafty folk!! Also can we make the hashtag #lancasteryarndistrict a thing? #knittingfriendsarethebestfriends #loveyourlys #ethelandem #northernyarn #lancasterlove #knittersofinstagram #knittersoftheworld #knitknitknit #nevernotknitting
I’ve made a start on my Niska by #bristolivy for the #cablekal2019 ! My swatch had some baggy cable stitches, so I pulled out my trusty copy of Something New to Learn About Cables from @jenacknitwear and @veuftricot and found a fix! — Loving the cable pattern and the very deep stash Beaverslide Dry Goods yarn, but my usual start of project self doubt has set in. I couldn’t quite match gauge with this yarn, so decided to size down, but now I’m worried my tension has tightened and that this was maybe the wrong decision. I’ll wait til I’ve worked a full repeat to make a decision, but I’ve got a feeling I might be restarting. Until then, I’m enjoying making tidier cables in this delicious 90% wool 10% Mohair blend 💙💙💙 #cablemal2019 #goodintentionsclub #acknitwear #sn2lacables
