Well, yesterday completely slipped me by!
If you’ve been reading along here for awhile, you’ll know that the first Thursday of the month is sock time! I didn’t realize until late yesterday that it had already come around again (I blame my cold!)
This morning, as I sipped my coffee and knit, as is my wont, I was thinking what a shame it was that I hadn’t done any sock knitting all month, and that I’d have to miss this month’s update … all the while I was knitting on a sock! Doh!
Granted, the socks aren’t for me — I was thinking of my languishing Antirrhinum socks, which I haven’t touched since last month. But, after finishing up the little baby poncho I was working on in Tosh DK, I decided to make some little socks to match. I chose the Babyccino Socks, and I’ve really enjoyed them. They are tiny so, of course, fly off the needles — I knit the first one in an evening.
I love the texture stitch, and they also feature a short row heel, worked differently than I have done before, so that’s been a nice learning experience.
I’m using the same Tosh DK in Ginger, paired with some Malachite (both very old yarns!) I just need to finishing turning the heel and knit the little leg, and off these will go to Canada!
And the pattern actually goes up to adult sizes — with the lovely texture and being out of DK yarn, I think these would make some super scrummy house socks!
Linking up with my fellow Thursday sock knitters — Paula at Spin A Yarn has finished a gorgeous pair of Hermione Socks, Stefanie at Wooly Cakes and Wooden Spoons has a really cool pair of completely afterthought socks on the go, and go see with Kat at Felinity Knits is up to as well! If you’d like to join up, we write about socks on the first Thursday of the month!
Also, wanted to say thank you so much to all of you for your lovely well wishes and comments to the news I shared earlier this week! Being sick has put me behind on everything, but your comments were so kind, and I can’t wait to respond to each of you!
Ok, that’s it for me! Hope you have a great weekend planned!

Oh that’s an adorable idea to do the poncho and the socks. I love it! I also love the color combo. I’m going to whip up some Flax pullovers for my girlfriend’s 2 girls and was thinking I should whip up little socks for the 7 month old too because they’d go so quickly.

Thank you! I love the Flax sweater — I actually considered that for this baby! I definitely recommend the Babbychino pattern if you want a quick, satisfying sock!

Very cute combo. Sorry to hear you’ve also caught this bug that is going around. Lots of tea, honey and lemon. Hope you feel better soon. Knitting always helps.

Thanks, Maylin! I don’t think I had as bad a time of it as you did, but the little traces of it have lingered for ages … knitting is the best medicine though!

Those are so super cute! I love the contrast of the teal against other color. It’s so gorgeous. I just love baby socks as they work up so quickly 🙂 I love that they are DK weight too. That will make them nice and cozy. I hope you feel better soon!
