Hi friends, and happy Friday! I have a new batch of favorites to share with you today.
Fiber

This week, I’ve been thinking about fall/winter knitting. And apparently, I’ve got slightly oversized shrugs on the mind — I realized I keep favorite-ing sweaters with a similar shape. It started with Ronan by Andrea Mowry from the most recent Wool People Collection. And, like the rest of the internet, I fell hard for Veronika when it was released earlier this week (also: apparently it contains instructions for modifying for petite frames! I love these sorts of slouchy sweaters, but they can be a bit tricky for us shorties.) And, after hearing lots of discussions about Marie Wallin’s Fair Isle Club 3, I finally checked it out for myself … the combination of colorwork with the slightly cropped boxy shape has me swooning. I don’t think the club is in the cards for me right now, but I was happy to see that Wallin has a similarly shaped sweater in her soon-to-be-released Fair Isle book (you can spot it in the slideshow).

Not ready to think about heavy winter knitting yet? Quince and Co. released two lovely pullovers this week out of Tern, their scrummy, lightweight wool silk blend. I love the side detail on Cecily Glowick Macdonald’s Galaxie and the beautiful simplicity of Larimar by Isabell Kraemer.

A new episode of my favorite podcast Fruity Knitting came out this week, and they featured the amazing House Dressing in new releases. How amazing is that?! Besides being in awe of all that knitting, it’s knit in my favorite shade of yellow. Maybe one day I’ll tackle my own version …
Sustenance
I know I’ve been thin on the ground on food lately, but I came across some yummy summer recipes this week that I’m excited to try out:
- These chimichurri chickpeas are on my must make list this weekend!
- And I’m also digging this tomato, garlic, and corn (corn?!) pasta.
- There’s endless inspiration in this collection of 21 creative salads from the New York Times.
Alright, that about does it — hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you for posting about Marie Wallin. I’m so happy to know about her! The Fair Isle Club 3 pattern isn’t really my style, but I checked out her website and her other work and WOW!!! I’d love to knit a sweater like “Orkney” or “Shetland.” And those blankets!! Holy Moly! Lots of other great links too! Will definitely be checking out those salads. 🙂

The first, two cardigans are lovely. I especially like that Veronika one and how the sleeves are. It’s always nice to imagine being cozied up in a cardigan.

Isn’t it fab?! And I love that you could do all sorts of customization on the colorwork at the bottom!

I’ve seen that dress on Ravelry and I love it but all I think of is tiny needles and how long it would take. But maybe one day I’ll tackle it.

I know … it’s a LOT of knitting to contemplate. But I love what a tailored dress results, you know? If I ever make it, it’s going to be quite awhile in the future!

I really like boxy sweaters; however don’t like to add too much bulk to my already bulky body 🙂 My mind knows that but apparently my heart doesn’t because they still make me swoon. The side detail on that Galaxie also has me swooning. I have bookmarked the pattern for the future! I love the dress too; however am with others in that I don’t know if something like that would ever get completed.
I have been making a lot of things with tomato, red onion and cucumber lately. Gazpacho (perfect for the warm summer days we’ve been having), salad with quinoa, and just dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette, feta cheese and kalamata olives. Yum!

Ooohh, you’ve just got my mouth drooling with the mention of gazpacho! I’m loving summer eating at the moment. And I bet you look just lovely in boxy sweaters! But I do know what you mean … lots of times we’re drawn to things that aren’t necessarily what we feel best wearing…
