Hi friends!!
First of all, thanks for all your responses and encouragement on that pile of unfinished sweaters! Pulling those all out had me feeling a little discouraged, but chatting about it with you all got me excited to re-tackle some of those lovelies … but that’s going to have to wait just a bit as I’m in the middle of a few weeks of lots of travel!
This weekend, Mr. N and I met up in Memphis to attend the wedding of some dear friends. It was an exciting weekend for lots of reasons: our friends were getting married (of course!), neither of us have ever been to Memphis, it was the first time we’d seen each other in over a month, AND it marked the end of our last extended period of separation — woo hoo!
We had a lot of fun exploring a bit of downtown Memphis on either side of the wedding. There was loads of good food (which, of course, I forgot to take any pictures of), and we did LOTS of walking by and across the Mississippi (20 miles over three days!)

Saturday morning, we were lucky enough to go to the National Civil Rights Museum, which was really amazing and moving. I can’t recommend it enough if you find yourself in the area. I didn’t take any pictures in the museum itself (I was too busy reading all the placards!) but I really loved this mural that’s not far from the museum — it commemorates the Memphis Sanitation Workers Strike of 1968:
One more view, with the artists signature:
And I also squeezed in a little knitting here and there — I packed my long-neglected Constellate Hat and gave it some attention! I can now say I’ve knit in both Tennessee AND Arkansas, as I pulled out my WIP after we walked across the Big River Crossing, which technically crosses the state line.
And I even managed to (finally!) finish the hat on our plane out of Memphis:
I’m now in California for a glorious week. Mr. N’s two brothers and all their families have flown in from Britain and Australia, so we’re currently enjoying a lovely and busy week exploring Disneyland! Hopefully I’ll pop in again soon, but if not, I’ll be back to at least a relatively normal blogging schedule next week — with a new project to share!
More soon xo K
What a fun trip. Your hat looks great!

I did! Pulled pork and ribs and the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. Lucky you – Memphis seems like a very cool city to call a second home!

It sounds like you had a ton of fun. My husband would applaud you for not taking any food pictures…it drives him batty, as I’m sure I’ve told you before 🙂 I hope you have a ton of fun in Cali this week and congrats on no more extended absences from your sweetie!
